Student Highlight: Saige Chandler

Balancing work and life is not everyone’s forte, but Saige Chandler makes it seem as easy as breathing. Saige has worked at the Digital Corps for most of her college experience. She was hired during the second semester of her freshman year as a Communications Apprentice and worked her way up to Communications Master in the fall semester of her junior year. Her advances aren’t only present in her time with the Digital Corps; she is also graduating a semester early.

Studying Public Relations with a concentration in Event Planning, one may question Saige’s balance, but those who know her aren’t surprised by her extraordinary workload. Saige is assertive, disciplined, and personable; her ability to work her way up into the role she plays today within many people’s lives and networks isn’t shocking.  Saige has even made the joke comparing herself to an “army” on several occasions, always prepared to take each challenge on headfirst.

Saige appreciates being involved in projects and is very hands-on. One of her favorite projects during her time here was the University Police Department Recruitment Video, where she played an impactful role from start to finish, including being talent in the final video.

“I really liked being involved in the entire process—from research and getting to do ride-along and talking to students on campus, to actually formulating the script and interview questions.”

This love of new things doesn’t come from nothing, though; it stems from Saige’s admiration of research. “Any time I want to learn something new, whether it’s in the professional world or my personal life, I always go research first.”

This research ranges from work things, like the UPD video, all the way to one of her favorite hobbies, cooking. She loves to try new recipes and cook foods from other cultures to learn more about them.

There’s no need to worry about Saige’s balance of her free time; she makes sure to find it through the simple joys of life. If you’re ever looking for her, she’s probably outside, taking a walk, reading, or spending time with the people most important to her in life, including her other half: her dog Luna.

“Luna is the sweetest, and she’s my soul-dog!”

Having mastered the art of balance and discipline at the Corps, Saige is ready to unleash her abilities and conquer the public relations and event planning worlds. As Saige’s time with Ball State rolls to an end, the Digital Corps will remember to send out the word to the professional world to prepare for her arrival!
